Increasing urbanization and the growing number of vehicles circulating in cities have transformed urban mobility management into a major challenge. Developing active transportation options and reducing pollution are becoming priorities for local authorities, but this requires optimal management of vehicle flows, particularly in terms of traffic and parking.
Detailed analysis of vehicle flow is essential for better understanding driver behavior and optimizing transportation infrastructure. It is in this context that DASIA's SmartWiFi® technology offers a complementary approach to traditional vehicle counting. By combining data from CCTV cameras with data from WiFi sensors and analyzing the types of vehicles present, DASIA enables detailed traffic segmentation, thus providing a comprehensive understanding of urban travel patterns.
By using existing CCTV cameras, cities can achieve reliable traffic counts of over 991 vehicles per 1000 km (TP3T) and segment traffic into eight vehicle categories. This analysis allows for the visualization of congestion points, the identification of areas where infrastructure needs improvement, and the planning of necessary investments. For example, the collected data can help assess the impact of dedicated public transport lanes or cycle paths on traffic flow.
The benefits of this analysis extend beyond traffic management. It also contributes to collective well-being by reducing pollution and congestion, improving air quality, and making urban spaces more pleasant for residents. By facilitating traffic management and optimizing the use of existing infrastructure, DASIA helps cities become greener and promote alternative modes of transportation.
